This is what it does
Try it
Pick one of 40 covers and its link loads 1BX as that cover — the name and icon that land on your phone are the cover you chose, not the product.
Installs from a link — no store, no signup
You are one tap from an install. Every tile below is a live install link, and this is the first one. The covers are served from a host that keeps ordinary access logs, and the app behind them has not been run on a handset by us.
- What it does: a web app added through your browser's own install — on Android, ⋮ menu → Install and create shortcut → Install (not Create shortcut); on Safari, Share → Add to Home Screen — under the cover you pick. No store listing, no signup, no account.
- What to try: open a cover's link, then install it from your browser. Two covers can sit on one phone and the phone treats them as unrelated apps.
- What it does not do yet: nothing here has been run on a handset by us, and the install needs a secure connection from a host that keeps ordinary access logs.
- Not sure which cover? Tell us what your phone already looks like.
How it installs
Three steps, and one of them is the whole trick
Pick a cover, then open its link
Every tile below is a live install link; the page it loads already carries that cover's own name and icon.
Install it from your browser
Your browser's own install option is what installs it. Android / Chrome: ⋮ menu → Install and create shortcut → choose Install, not Create shortcut — Install gives the cover its own icon and a full-screen window with no browser bar, while Create shortcut is only a bookmark. Safari: Share → Add to Home Screen. There is no store listing and no review queue.
The name on the phone is the cover
Neither the icon nor the name says 1BX, and nothing you install from this page carries the product name in its files.
Decide before you rely on it: a cover that is discovered reads as a deliberate secret, which is worse than an ordinary app that was installed and forgotten.
The covers
Pick the one that fits your phone
Choose the one that would not raise a question if somebody glanced at your home screen. Each tile is a live install link.

Bringing someone else in
One link does all three jobs
Two people need each other's key before anything can be read. That normally means swapping addresses and comparing codes by hand.
One link, three jobs
Keys → “Your code” draws one link as a square code carrying the install, the contact and the key; the other person's camera picks all three up at once.
Nothing is saved until a human agrees
The arriving link is held, not stored, and the fingerprint still has to be compared out loud before the key is trusted — that comparison is what catches a swapped key.
Nothing is left behind afterwards
An arriving link is offered once; only a marker that one was seen is kept, never the link itself.
The link is only offered when the real session is open. If the phone is locked, or sitting behind the decoy code, an arriving link surfaces nothing at all.
Under the hood
What installing does
- What installs
- A web app added through the browser's own install — on Android, the ⋮ menu → Install (not Create shortcut); on Safari, Share → Add to Home Screen. There is no store listing, no review queue and no signup step between the link and the icon.
- The covers
- 40 installs, each a separate manifest with its own
id, name and generated icon. The distinctidis what lets two covers coexist on one phone as unrelated apps. - Naming
- The name and icon the phone shows come from the cover's own manifest. A test asserts that no cover's files mention the product name anywhere.
- Adding a person
- One link carries the install, the contact and the key together, with the payload in the URL fragment so no host sees the handle. It is offered from the app, not from this page.
Status
Where this stands
- This is a beta. Both the page and the covers behind it are live, and the parts described here are built and covered by tests.
- The beta build was updated on 2026-10-19 (build 1.0.0+1). Settings now has Send feedback: it shows exactly what will be sent, gives you a reference code, and can copy the report when the network is not available.
- There is no store listing and there will not be one — the covers are the point, and store review is hostile to them.
- Installing needs a secure connection, so the covers are served from a host that keeps ordinary access logs. That is a real limit of the web install, not something this page can hide.
- It has not been run on a phone by us. What is described here is verified offline, not on a handset.
